Online Computer Support Services: Myths and Truths

With almost every household using a computer, printer, router, gaming console etc. and every individual connected to the Wi-Fi or a network over a Smartphone or tablet, it has become an absolute necessity to stay connected to browse the Internet, email, game, download, shop, pay, create/share documents or do miscellaneous things. Every year the numbers of Smartphones, tablets, computers and other peripherals are increasing by leaps and bounds. Companies are toiling hard to accommodate the rising demand and as well as please customers with new designs, improved capacities, higher productivity, reliability, and affordability for their peripherals.

With the advent of apps and hordes of software programs, their usage has also more than double up. With so many gadgets, peripherals and software applications around, the volume of technical problems have also quadrupled. We all very well know that computers and problems go in hand in hand. In fact, problem can be named as second to computer. Several computer repair companies have come up in the recent past to accommodate the growing needs for technical support services and understanding the growing demand for smart gadgets, usage of computers and other peripherals, and inherent problems with their usage.

Earlier there used to be only local computer repair shops which would offer computer support services in a From-To format at higher prices. Affordability was not a choice then. However, with the arrival of online technical support services, local repair shops took a back seat. These third-party online computer repair services offered customers to get rid of time-bound support at much more affordable prices as compared to local computer repair shops. Besides, they offer customers convenience, flexibility (no time limitations), reliability, instant solutions and much more that will only remain a dream with local repair shops.

Despite that online computer support services are better and more affordable than the services of local computer repair shops, not all customers have had a mindset for them. Though there are still billions of users across the world who take advantage of online computer support services, some people are still wary of them due to fear, rising online tech support scams, and physical unavailability of technicians who actually fix their problems etc. Apart from these reasons, customers have several myths about online computer support services for that matter. So in this post, I am going to discuss two major myths (though there are many) that customer have about using online computer repair services and the truth also.

Myth- Online computer repair services are not safe. These service providers break in to people’s computers using some software and make them believe that they are infected with some sort of virus or malware infection. They only rob customers off their money and also compromise their confidential data.

Truth- With online tech support scams on the rise, it may seem little difficult and may be almost next to impossible for some users to believe in online computer repair services. However, this is not true for all the online tech support companies. In fact, billions of customers are already taking advantage of these services to get their computer problems fixed over the phone, chat or email. There are several genuine service providers who are offering reliable, genuine, convenient, instant, and affordable computer support services. Their reliable services make you believe that your money is in safe hands.

Myth- The recent crackdown of the U.S. on Indian firms confirm that all these companies operating in the name of online tech support services are fake. I would prefer to lug my computer to a local technician’s shop rather believe a total stranger Indian company to get it fixed.

Truth- The recent U.S. crackdown nailed only the culprit companies and not the genuine ones. There are several legitimate Indian companies operating in the U.S. and offering wonderful services to customers. They have millions of satisfied customers and their numbers are just growing. If you feel suspicious about any company, just check its records, date of inception, independent customer testimonials, feedbacks and press releases etc. A legitimate company will have independent customer review policy in place with millions of satisfied customers. On the other hand, a fake company would not have any such things. A culprit company can virtually operate from any part of the world and not just India. It may have an office registered in India but may be operating from somewhere else.
